We opened on December 26th, 2020 and are located inside of the MIA Market.
We, Yasu and his wife Michelle, found our passion for sharing the culture and warm hospitality of our home country, Japan. Our company’s name, Masumura, comes from Yasu’s father’s family-owned watch repair company in Yamanashi, Japan.
His father is a 5th generation proprietor and the business has been in the family for over 125 years. To honor Yasu’s father’s business, we named our restaurant, Sushi Yasu Tanka by Masumura.
We serve a nigiri-focused menu (thin slices of raw fish served on top of rice) by combining traditional Japanese sushi preparation methods with some modern variations. Guests can enjoy fish that is marinated with different seasonings which are added to bring out the special flavors of each type of fish.
Any fish that is cooked is done over Japanese charcoal known as bincho-tan, which brings out the natural flavors of any food.
We will do our best to give our guests an enjoyable dining experience. Even ordering one piece of Nigiri with us, we want to make that experience special.
