Bio:
Kurt Gutenbrunner, the acclaimed chef behind Michelin-starred Wallsé, a fine-dine Austrian restaurant in New York City, is opening Charley, a Viennese bistro in Harrison.
Gutenbrunner has partnered with real estate developer David Barry, CEO of URBY, a development company that built a collection of modern apartments in Harrison located one block from the town’s PATH station. Charley is set to open Feb. 12.
Named after Barry’s “quirky, fun, outgoing son,” Charley is intended to be an homage to late 1800s- to early-1900s Viennese coffee houses, “a space where people gathered from day to night.” The cafe eventually will be open all-day, Barry said, but at first its hours will be from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
