Overview
Throughout his career, Kevin Adey has built a following for his seasonal cooking and devotion to
locally sourced, sustainably raised and harvested ingredients. A native of Rome, New York, he lived and worked in Florida before joining the kitchen team at Le Bernardin and later taking the reins at Northeast Kingdom in Bushwick, Brooklyn. While at Northeast Kingdom, Kevin began to build a local following and garnered a Bib Gourmand for his cooking. Kevin and his wife Debbie, a veteran of Jean-Georges’ restaurants, had long wanted to open their own restaurant. When Kevin met Danny Blumberg, the idea was born for a collaboration that later became Faro.
Longtime Bushwick residents, Kevin and Debbie worked with local artisans to build a true neighborhood restaurant, transforming a former art warehouse into a comfortable, spacious modern room. The restaurant opened in May 2015 to instant success and rave reviews. The large open kitchen features a wood-fired oven for roasting meats and vegetables with counter seating for six guests. The centerpiece of the menu is pasta made fresh in house daily. In the first year, Kevin used more than 100 different pasta shapes on his menu. Last November, the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in the 2017 guide.
In early 2018, the team opened their second restaurant – General Debs, which focuses on the noodle culture of Sichuan. The restaurant is a continuation of Kevin’s love for noodles and dumplings, which are all made in house and by hand.
