Nimbus got its start when Camilla Opperman decided to launch her own food brand, but was limited by the lack of flexible, affordable kitchen space available nearby. Recognizing this gap in the industry, Opperman joined forces with Samantha Slager in order to develop a solution to her problem. In 2019, the pair opened Nimbus Kitchen in New York’s Lower East side.
Their innovative solution combines shared commercial kitchen and community-driven retail spaces. It operates with the mission to, “empower food businesses to grow and thrive through elevated, flexible, and affordable kitchen spaces without losing the spirit of hospitality.” Since then, Nimbus Kitchen has provided affordable kitchen space to support over 100 small businesses in the community, the majority of which are female and minority-owned. Camilla and Samantha are excited to grow that number every day.
