With painterly light, artful compositions and striking hues, Jason Varney’s photos have a distinctive, signature style. Varney, who is based in Philadelphia, has been shooting food, interiors, travel and lifestyle imagery for nearly twenty years. His body of work—which includes editorial features and covers, cookbooks, and advertising for local and global brands—has taken him across the country and around the world.
In addition to his commercial success, Varney’s images have received various awards and recognition, including nods from American Photography 35, 37, 38, 39, Communication Arts ’18 & ’22, The Photo Review, and Photo District News. He had his first solo exhibition Jason Varney, Recent Work, at his alma mater Drexel University in 2018. In 2019, his photograph “Drying Espelettes” was acquired by The Philadelphia Museum of Art for their permanent collection. In the spirit of giving back, Varney has contributed his services and images gratis to organizations such as Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, City Harvest, Fresh Artists, MANNA, and The National Park Service.
